The Right at Home RightCare Dementia and Cognitive Support Services
We, at Right at Home Haverhill, have been thinking for a long time that there is MORE that we can do for our dementia clients, but with the large scale of dementia clients in our community, how can we offer something that can reach any person that needs person-centered care here in our Boston area service geographic? We think we have found it and we are so excited. Right now, we are working in the community with our Dementia Specialists to fine-tune our program before we roll it out to anyone that needs it.
Right at Home’s RightCare approach to dementia and cognitive support is grounded in the idea that ALL clients, regardless of the severity or progression of their cognitive change, have abilities to interact and connect with their surroundings. RightCare Dementia and Cognitive Support (RightCare DCS) will be delivered by Certified Cognitive Support Program Providers who have received highly specialized training from our Program Manager to deliver an individualized Personal Plan that accounts for ability, personhood, and lifestyle risk factors known to increase symptoms of dementia, so that, together with families, we can improve the quality of life for those we serve.
We sent our Private Care Program Manager, Diane, to Orlando, Florida in December to do a train the trainer program so we can start to work with all the intricacies of the program from Jackie Pool, the program’s creator. Diane has 25 years of home care experience and she was incredibly impressed by what she brought back. This program is something different than what she or I have ever seen in dementia home care. It is also a tightening of our focus of celebrating a dementia client’s personhood and their abilities on that day. We see this client centered and highly specialized approach as a true gamechanger for care.

These services will only be available on a limited basis based on the intensive training of the Dementia Specialists we are developing on our CareTeam. We envision this being a service that will enhance our daily home care services and will only be able to offer to select clients that we think can benefit from the program.
