Virtual Dementia Tour® Training and Cognitive Support Program

Right at Home North Shore Long Island and Long Island Alzheimer’s Foundation (LIAF) held Virtual Dementia Tour® training on October 23. It was a great success attended by about 20 people at the LIAF office in Westbury. Along with the Virtual Dementia Tour® training, we provided the attendees information on our Cognitive Support Program.

The Virtual Dementia Tour® provided participants with a window into the world of someone with dementia. After experiencing the frustrations and challenges, participants learned about the person-centered approach of Right at Home’s Cognitive Support Program, which identifies the person’s level of dementia and taps into the ABILITIES of the person at that level.

Understanding Dementia and support for the caregivers is so important. The volunteers at this event greatly helped by demonstrating trying to overcome the obstacles that those living with Dementia deal with every day.
