Dinner is Served in Salem

Right at Home Salem-Marblehead kicked off the holiday season with a service project supporting the Community Meals Program at Lifebridge in downtown Salem. The Lifebridge Community Meals Program, serves hot meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner for up to 100 needy individuals every day of the year. Volunteers from our local office included: Rosaleen Doherty, CEO-Co-Owner, Claudia Kassab, Director of Finance, Kelly Latanowich, Branch Care Coordinator Manager, Ioana Coltea, Nurse Supervisor, Janessa Heger, Nurse Supervisor and Mercedes Lazowy, Scheduling Coordinator.

“This was our first time volunteering at Lifebridge, and we already can’t wait to go back again”, said Rosaleen Doherty, CEO/ Co-Owner of Right at Home Salem-Marblehead. "Our team had a truly wonderful experience at Lifebridge. We served over 80 meals to the community, and the guests were very appreciative, they loved the food, and though we help people everyday- this was a way for us to help different neighbors here in Salem.”

For more than thirty years, Lifebridge has been working to meet the most urgent needs of individuals on the North Shore. In addition to the Community Meals Program, Lifebridge also offers emergency and transitional shelters, intensive case management, permanent supportive housing, supportive programs and training, and a thrift shop. Our task was simple: think of a meal, then prepare, cook and serve the meal to the Lifebridge guests. Right at Home chose to serve chicken thighs with roasted vegetables, rice and a garden salad, followed by a warm apple crisp for dessert.

"We had a great time with Kelly making sure the the chicken was spiced and seasoned just right, Janessa and Mercedes making the best garden salad ever, Ioana and Cindy did it all...they peeled garlic, cut vegetables and served the meal. Claudia hauled over 75 pounds of chicken over to Lifebridge the day before, chopped, prepped and was the math checker for the rice... and I made rice, dessert and oversaw the operation," said Rosaleen.
