Rotary Club of Marblehead Gift of Mobility
Recently, the Rotary Club of Marblehead Harbor, made a generous donation to the non-profit, Free Wheelchair Mission. The club donated $900.00 to grant the gift of mobility to those in need around the world, as part of its 2017-2018 Giving Program. Rosaleen Doherty, CEO of Right at Home Boston and North is a rotarian of Marblehead Harbor.
For just $80.00, a wheelchair from the Free Wheelchair Mission, can be shipped and delivered to someone in need in the world. With the donation provided by the Rotary Club, 11 people in need will receive the gift of mobility. Free Wheelchair Mission was founded as a humanitarian nonprofit to build and deliver durable wheelchairs to the world's less fortunate. To date, the organization distributes approximately 183 wheelchairs per day and has distributed over 1 million since its founding.
Right at Home is proud to partner with Free Wheelchair Mission. Just last year, Rosaleen Doherty and her fellow Right at Home team traveled to Costa Rica on its first ‘Vision Trip’ to be part of the distributing process as volunteers. Once there, the team assembled and hand delivered over 50 wheelchairs to men, women and children. As volunteers, Right at Home worked with the in-country partner, the Do-It Foundation, to assemble and give away the wheelchairs in several towns, including Liberia, Puntarenas, Guanacaste and San Jose to name a few.
