Giving Back to Our Community

Blood Pressure Clinics

Right at Home Appleton, Green Bay, Fox Cities loves to give back to the community! One of the ways is by offering free Blood Pressure Clinics with various community partners. This is very well received and appreciated, as the residents in Independent living do not otherwise get any RN attention and care, as they do in the Assisted living portion.

The line is usually out the door and down the hallway at Aspire Senior Living, as our RN, Lisa P. performs our blood pressure clinic. The Community’s calendar features Right at Home each month on the first Tuesday. The residents are smiling and softly spoken as they gather around the table and out the door. They know to allow Lisa some quiet, so she can hear well and be very accurate about their readings. They bring their blood pressure cards in hand, from Right at Home, to keep track, and bring to their next doctor appointment.

I (Patty, one of the owners) stopped by for the March clinic. I notice that Lisa picks up in conversation with them about what is going on in their life, remembering from one month to the next. All is well, and looking forward to the next month’s meeting!

Fox Valley Memory Project

The Fox Valley Memory Project began from individuals working together to make a difference in their community to those families as well as the individuals suffering with dementia. There are several different ways to impact our community and also to be impacted. Our Team is passionate about serving those suffering with dementia and their families.

There are 9 different Memory Cafes held around the community, each open 1 day/ month. Memory cafes welcome persons experiencing memory loss, along with family and friends who love and care for them. Attendees participate in activities, learning, music, conversation, refreshments, laughter, and fun!

People can attend 1 or all of them. Various people in the community give of their time to organize the activities and entertainment, as well as “put on the show”. One of the Owners of Right at Home, Patty has been involved in several of these café events.

Purple Angel Training - Another function of the Fox Valley Memory Project is to teach the community how to offer hospitality and support to those with memory loss and their families through their places of employment, in a 1+ hour session a little. #PurpleAngelTraining is the name of the training because after the training, the business earns a window sticker of a Purple Angel, indicating to the public that it has been through this training.

Patty, one of the Owners of Right at Home is a “Purple Angel Trainer” – actively training other businesses in this hour long session designed to increase their understanding, and how to offer hospitality and support to those with memory loss, cognitive decline, or other symptoms associated with a dementia.

The Fox Valley Memory Project is always looking for donations and sponsors to help with funds, so that it can provide the services listed above to the community. Right at Home Appleton, Green Bay, Fox Cities is a financial sponsor of the FVMP.
