Remembering Why I Went Into Home Care
Serving Our Heroes at Home
As I attended a ceremony recently honoring one of our local veterans, I was reminded once again how fortunate I am to work in home care.
Mr. C smudged the tear shed from a range of emotion while being presented with his certificate of appreciation for service during World War Two (WWII) by the brotherhood shared within the Gaston County Veterans Council. With a very supportive family, determination, great sense of humor, and quality care at home provided by our team , Mr. C was discharged from hospice and is exercising daily. It has been reported that he wears his pin out and about with pride.
Mr. C served as a Staff Sergeant in the Army awarding 3 Bronze Stars, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal x 5, WWII Campaign Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, and the Combat Infantry Badge. He began his career by joining an outfit in Australia, then landing in New Guinea. His first combat operation was the Battle for Los Negros during the Admiralty Islands Campaign. He then trained to land on Leyte in support of the Philippines Campaign and the Battle of Luzon, landing in northern Luzon towards the end of service.
He would say otherwise about himself, however I am blessed with opportunity to be among heroes.
