Veteran Benefit Care Resources

Countless U.S. veterans valiantly served our country, but now struggle every day to live at home and care for themselves. Thousands of U.S. wartime veterans and their surviving spouses, aged 65 and older, are in need of in-home caregiver assistance. Unfortunately, not many of them are aware of tax-free benefits that they are entitled to through the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

At Right at Home Belmont, we are a veteran owned and operated home care agency, and always glad to help our Gastonia and Belmont area veterans get everything for which they are qualified.

Homemaker and Home Health Aide (H/HHA) Care Services

Veterans of any age who need help in their own home with the activities of daily living, skilled care services and case management may benefit from the services of a Homemaker or Home Health Aide (H/HHA). All veterans enrolled in the Veterans Health Administration Standard Medical Benefits Package are eligible for the H/HHA Services if they meet the clinical need for the assistance. The program is also an avenue for in-home respite care for family caregivers.

Right at Home Belmont can provide help with hands-on personal care. This includes bathing, dressing, walking, toileting and eating. If time allows, the aide may also help with preparing meals, laundry, reminding you to take medications, and light housekeeping.

The number of H/HHA hours you receive is based on your current ability to perform your personal care. Your abilities will be reviewed annually, or more often if needed, and may result in an increase or decrease of H/HHA hours.

Right at Home Belmont is Honored to Serve Our Veterans

A decorated veteran with no immediate family established a living will to never be admitted to any skilled nursing facilities. After a recurrent stroke in April, 2018, his longtime friend and Power of Attorney enlisted 24/7 help from Right at Home so he could return home. “Our caregivers have become his family. And we are going to see it through,”

Honoring a Purple Heart Veteran

“Denise (caregiver) has been wonderful, and she’s done real well. And Bill Osborne, the owner of Right at Home, has been such a godsend for me. He helped coordinate care for me through the VA. It’s so nice to know there are people out there who are helping veterans get what they need and what they deserve.”

Supporting Military Spouses

We are a veteran-friendly employer and are supportive to military significant others and spouses.

“When a deployment happens, which can be up to 18 months, it’s a hard, hard time for the military spouse. What we’ve found as an employer is, we can provide more than a place to work. We are there for them. They know that they have a place to go, someone to talk to. We can help them get through the time that when it feels so long for their loved ones to be gone.”
–Bill Osborne

Heather Hicks’ husband was deployed to Kuwait when she first joined Right at Home. During the deployment, Hicks said the Osbornes would call to check in on her from time to time; “It’s been so nice to have the extra support of the Osbornes. Someone without military background wouldn’t understand the idea of being married to the military.”
