Doug Dickstein named Co-Chair HCAOA of California
Doug Dickstein, Co-Owner of Right at Home serving Glendale, Burbank and Beverly Hills, was recently named co-chair of the California chapter of the Home Care Association of America (HCAOA). Founded in 2012, the HCAOA is the industry’s leading trade association – currently representing over 2,700 companies that employ more than 500,000 caregivers across the United States.
“It’s an honor to be able to serve as co-chair of the HCAOA in California”, stated Dickstein, who has owned and operated the Right at Home office since 2008. “As the need for quality care aides increases throughout our state, I look forward to working with agencies throughout California in making sure the issues that effect our clients and our employees are heard and understood in Sacramento.”
To that end, Dickstein was one of over 100 representatives of California home care, home health and hospice agencies that descended on the capitol this past March 12th to promote and educate home care to assembly members and state senators as well as to pitch a tax credit bill that would allow families to potentially get a state tax credit for home care services they pay for out of their own pocket.
Among the representatives met were recently elected Assemblymember Christy Smith, whose district encompasses the mountainous inner northern suburbs of Los Angeles, including the Santa Clarita Valley, Simi Valley as well as parts of Soledad Canyon and the San Fernando Valley. During the productive meeting, Smith acknowledged the importance of home care and harking back to her mother’s experience as a registered nurse.
Dickstein looks forward to more meetings with legislators, fellow home care agencies, home care aides and families to discuss the important topics that affect the care for seniors throughout the great state of California.
