Alzheimer’s awareness and Networking
September 22nd, 2016
Right at Home, 3rd. Alzheimer’s awareness and Networking.
Today the Right at Home offices of Brooklyn, represented by Walter Ochoa and Carol Amandola, hosted their third Alzheimer’s awareness and networking event for families and leaders in our community.
Alzheimer’s and any other type of dementia are one of the most difficult diseases to understand. Learning the basics about the brain, its different parts and how memories are formed, among other highlights, turned out to be essential to understand the disease and the seemingly erratic behaviors that our loved ones display while having this disease. Armed with that knowledge, leaders in our community learned about how to create a positive environment of communication and understanding to get through the difficult times of caring for someone with this disease.
This time we were glad to have some distinctive members of our community including a representative of the FDNY and the founder of “Fuerza contra Alzheimers” Ms. Carmen Pastor.
Caring for those with Alzheimer’s requires empathy, patience and special care. At Right at Home we are glad to keep teaching these basics of caring to families, our caregivers and our community.
