Alzheimer’s and Dementia Awareness at Vanderbilt Rehab Staten Island

Alzheimer’s and Dementia Awareness at New Vanderbilt Rehab and Care Center in Staten Island

(April 10, 2017 Staten Island, New York) “When can you come back again?” “Will you be staying to instruct our afternoon staff?”” Everyone should have this training.” This type of conversation is just a small example of the positive response heard from the staff at The New Vanderbilt Rehabilitation and Care Center in Staten Island after experiencing a Virtual Dementia Tour (VDT), the most unique Alzheimer and Dementia training. This training was given by the talented instructor Mr. Walter Ochoa, the director of the Right at Home health aide provider whose offices are in Brooklyn and Staten Island and serves all five boroughs.

This Virtual Dementia Tour is a FREE in-service, which gives the participants a realistic experience of what it is like to suffer from the disease of Alzheimer’s and the behaviors of Dementia. We put them in the shoes of senior citizens who are stricken with this dreaded illness. The goal is for the staff to possess a higher level of compassion and an increased level of care for their resident with Alzheimer’s. Families of these residents are truly grateful that Right at Home takes the time to serve the community in this way by offering such valuable training. At Right at Home we strive to make your family members feel right at home by giving compassionate, knowledgeable, and affordable home care.
