Early Stage Dementia Support Group

I have been a trained caregiver support group volunteer through the Alzheimer’s Association for about two years now but, unfortunately, do not have much experience facilitating an actual support group because of the pandemic.  A colleague of mine and I tried to introduce a Dementia Caregiver Support Group for the LGBTQ community and that really never took off.  So, while regrouping and working through the pandemic we are excited to launch and announce our new support group for Early Stage Dementia Caregivers and Loved Ones with the Alzheimer’s Association of Iowa.  Teri Skoog and I will be the facilitators.  I have known Teri for four years and her dedication and compassion for families living with dementia is unmatched!  I am excited to collaborate with her and support and learn from those navigating through the dementia experience.  Our initial meetings are virtual through Zoom with the goal of meeting in person as soon as everyone feels comfortable and safe.  Meetings will be held on the third Tuesday of each month starting March 16, 2021.
