About Forest Hills
Forest Hills is a mostly residential neighborhood in the central section of Queens. It is adjacent to Corona to the north, Rego Park, Glendale to the west, Forest Park to the south, Kew Gardens to the southeast, and Flushing Meadows-Corona Park to the east.
Forest Hills was once the home of the U.S. Open tennis tournament. The tournament was held at the West Side Tennis Club before moving to the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows in 1978. The Tennis Stadium hosted numerous music concerts including The Beatles, and more recently, the British rock band Mumford & Sons in 2013. Stadium officials have said they will now host as many as six music or cultural events at the Stadium each season.
The unofficial “center” of Forest Hills is Austin Street, a busy, modern street with shops, cafes, restaurants, and other stores.
