Right at Home Glendale Is Cognitive Support Certified
Right at Home owner Doug Dickstein and Client Care Manager, Janelle Woods, recently spent two intensive days in Las Vegas. However, their time wasn’t spent soaking up the sun around the pool, hitting the blackjack table and catching Cirque de Soleil. Rather, they were focused on a 2-day training seminar to become certified trainers for Right at Home’s exclusive RightCare Dementia and Cognitive Support program. This exclusive service allows Right at Home to assure that our care aides know more than just the “basics” of homecare and become experts in working with individuals suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease and other forms of Dementia and Cognitive impairment.
“It’s important for us to not just say we can provide Dementia care,” stated Dickstein, “but to actually be able to make sure our care aides are providing truly the best care possible for our client’s who are dealing with these issues. And education and training is where it all starts.”
The program emphasizes how to conduct specific assessments and create extensive personal care plans for individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and other forms of Dementia. Through case studies, training, interactive projects and the sharing and analyzing of past client experiences, Doug and Janelle – along with 16 other attendees of the training – were able to come back with tools to teach Right at Home care aides how to understand, handle, and excel when dealing working with these clients.
“We always provided Alzheimer’s and Dementia specific training,” commented Woods, who helps oversee Right at Home’s education initiative, “but this really takes it to another level.”
From working with clients discharging from rehab centers in Beverly Hills to clients trying to stay in their homes in the Hollywood Hills to clients who need assistance while their loved ones leave for work in Glendale, Right at Home wants to make sure we are providing the RightCare with the RightPeople and the RightServices with the RightApproach for the the RightMission – “To improve the quality of life for those we serve.”
Right at Home will be having it’s first set of caregivers begin the training at the end of this month.
