Right At Home Beverly Hills and Burbank Providing PPE to All Staff
Delivering on Commitment to Deliver Quality In-Home Care
As COVID-19 has swept through the entirety of the United States and the world, there have been no shortage of news stories about Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) shortages for health care workers and other front-line employees during this fight. Aware of the vital importance of PPE for the protection of Right at Home’s clients and employees alike, the Right at Home offices in Beverly Hills and Burbank have gone to extraordinary lengths to provide all its care staff with masks, gloves, hand-sanitizers as well as, when required, N95 masks, face shields and isolation gowns.
"When we began working with each and every one of our clients, we made them a commitment that we would deliver the highest quality of in-home care and assistance,” noted Right at Home Chief Operating Officer Leanna Dickstein. And we also told all of our employees that we were members of a team that would look out for one another. Making sure we have the necessary protective equipment during these perilous times is just one part of that commitment.
Right at Home care aides provide both personal care, such as bathing, dressing, walking assistance and more as well as companion care, which includes meal preparation, medication reminders, light housekeeping and other household duties. While companion care often will allow the home care aide to stand no closer than 6 feet away from their client, personal care by necessity does not. This is why in addition to providing PPE for all care aides, Right at Home has also instituted unprecedented pre-screening procedures.
All care aides are required to have their temperature taken prior to each shift. In addition, before they clock in before each shift, they must answer a series of questions to screen if they could be carrying the virus or have been exposed to it. Every day, Right at Home office staff contacts care aides as well as clients, to make sure they’re feeling okay, to make sure they haven’t been in contact with anyone exposed to the virus and to make sure they have everything they need to continue to stay safe.
“We care deeply about the well-being of our clients and employees alike,” continued Dickstein. “Going the extra mile to minimize the risk for both is a hugely important factor in our ability to continue to provide care.”
Right at Home care aides are also criminally background checked, subject to drug test upon hire, tested for TB and undergo multiple hours of training. Right at Home has been recognized by Home Care Pulse as an Employee of Choice and by Caring.com as a Superstar of Caring.
