Right at Home Hosts Dementia Live® at the Port Rehab Facility

Right at Home Haverhill recently presented the Dementia Live® program to 25 faculty and staff at the Port Rehab Facility in Newburyport, MA. The program was held on Wednesday, January 24th from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM and included direct care staff, maintenance, administration and accounting at the facility.

The program was very well received among the participants. During the empowerment phase of the training we asked participants to share their thoughts about the program and about how they felt. Participants stated that they gained greater depth of understanding and empathy for those with the disease. In addition, may participants had felt as though the program gave them better tips for communication.

Dementia Live® is a high impact, dementia simulation experience that immerses participants into life with dementia, resulting in a deeper understanding of what it's like to live with cognitive impairment and sensory change. The aim of the program is to build awareness and understanding of the neurodegenerative disease.
