Elder Network Meeting

Recently Right at Home attended a network program hosted by Elder Services of the Merrimack Valley at Holy Family Hospital in Haverhill, MA.

This month’s network program titled, Serving Health Insurance Needs of Everyone (SHINE). SHINE is administered by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Elder Affairs in partnership with elder service agencies, Councils on Aging, public and private community-based organizations.

SHINE provides free health insurance information, counseling, and assistance to Massachusetts residents with Medicare and their caregivers. It is a state health insurance assistance program (SHIP) and is partly funded by the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare services.

SHINE provides counselors to help individuals navigate various options available to Medicare beneficiaries including Medicare parts A, B, Medicare Advantage, Medicare Part D (prescription drug coverage), Medigap, Prescription Advantage, MassHealth, and other programs that help those with limited resources pay for health care.

Open enrollment for Medicare begins October 15th and runs through December 7th. This is a great opportunity to contact SHINE program and discuss options available.
