Caregiver Delvon Denson Considered Part of His Client’s Family
and Earns Right at Home East Central Region Caregiver of the Year
Congratulations to Delvon Denson from Right at Home Bluffton and Savannah on his recognition as the 2024 Right at Home East Central Region Caregiver of the Year! He was selected from among thousands of other caregivers for his exemplary commitment to making a difference in the lives of his clients and team members.
For more than 10 years, Delvon has been a caregiver with Right at Home Bluffton, South Carolina, and Savannah, Georgia. And for those 10 years, he has provided consistent, unwavering, and compassionate care for Cleve Jones. The Jones family adores Delvon so much, they consider him family and affectionately refer to him as “Dee.”
“Dee is a blessing to the whole family,” said Jacqueline Jones-White, Cleve’s daughter. “Mom calls him her third son.”
Cleve and Delvon met on a whim. Cleve’s regular caregiver was not available one day, so Delvon happily accepted the 50-mile commute from Bluffton to Savannah, thinking this was a one-time shift. Little did they both know this would be the start of a decadeslong relationship.
Delvon helps Cleve with personal care, meal preparation, and medication reminders. They spend their days going for walks, playing checkers, or sitting on the front porch and watching cars drive by. When Cleve has a medical appointment, Delvon is there to listen and report any new information to the family—after he and Cleve stop at Burger King on the way home.
“We genuinely believe that because of Dee’s eagerness to help, our father’s life is more rewarding, fulfilling, and comfortable than it would have been otherwise,” said Cleve’s children in a letter to Right at Home.
“I am so proud to have Delvon as part of our care team,” said Nancy Rosen, associate director of Right at Home Bluffton and Savannah. “He is committed to providing the very best care to his clients, which puts them and their families at ease. He is very deserving of this incredible honor.”
The Jones family members are not the only ones singing Delvon’s praises. In the office, Delvon’s co-workers share stories of his attention to detail and level of commitment to all Right at Home clients. Delvon takes calls from fellow caregivers to provide additional support or guidance on unique care situations. He is also very particular in training other staff to care for his clients if he needs to be away for a shift.
“Some caregivers shine brighter than others,” said Kimberly Speaks, staffing coordinator at Right at Home Bluffton and Savannah. “Delvon is a rock star, and his star is a hot ball of glowing magma. He shines brightly all of the time.”
Congratulations to Delvon on his recognition as 2024 East Central Region Caregiver of the Year. His compassion, selflessness, and willingness to go the extra mile for his clients have made him a valued member of Right at Home and a beloved caregiver in the Bluffton and Savannah communities.
Honoring Our Caregivers
National and Regional Caregivers of the Year are the highest honors awarded by Right at Home. Caregivers are nominated for their exemplary commitment to making a difference in the lives of their clients and teams. The winners are selected by a committee that includes Right at Home representatives and community professionals from outside health care, senior care and caregiving organizations. The award is presented annually during the organization’s conference.
