An Event for the Education and Outreach of the Southwest Michigan Dementia Consortium
2018 Excellence in Caring Honorees
Excellence in Caring is a yearly event sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association, Right at Home Kalamazoo, Home Sweet Home, White Oaks Assisted Living, and the Van Buren Conference Center. Each year area organizations who support and participate in the Consortium select honorees from their ranks that go above and beyond when caring for a person with Alzheimer’s. The honorees attend the Excellence in Caring event where there are speakers and each honoree gets a certificate, a paragraph read about them, and a gift. Family and friends of the honorees are welcome to attend as well. White Oaks provides a wonderful chocolate fountain with a variety of dipping choices that is enjoyed by everyone. It’s a wonderful event that is eagerly anticipated every year.

Dennis and Vicky Cashen
Right at Home of Kalamazoo chose Dennis Cashen as our honoree this year. Dennis was our August 2017 Above and Beyond recipient for our office. He was our first Above and Beyond recipient. Above and Beyond is our internal caregiver recognition program. Dennis was our nominee for the Caregiver of the Year award as well. We are pleased to present Dennis with the Excellence in Caring recognition as well.
