ALF and Nursing Home Hurricane Preparedness Roundtable

Join the Right at Home Palm Beach team at the South County Civic Center to discuss hurricane preparation for assisted living facilities and nursing homes. After Hurricane Irma last year, which cost over $15 billion worth of damage and caused devastating damage in the Caribbean and Puerto Rico, early preparation is key to prevent any troubles that may arise.

The main trouble that most ALF and nursing homes face is loss of power. After the death of residents at the Rehabilitation Center at Hollywood Hills due to suffocating in the heat, lawmakers since then issued new rules that all elder care facilities must abide by. For instance, facilities must have a power source that can keep at 81 degrees Fahrenheit or lower for at least four days. In addition, they must keep 96 hours of fuel on site during emergency weather.
