CalTech donates PPE to Right at Home

Pasadena’s California Institute of Technology (CalTech) recently donated personal protection equipment to Right at Home!

The donation came to our Covina office as a surprise, and we were thrilled to have received such a wonderful gift.
Richard Abbott, a CalTech employee who is a part of the group that made the donation, said the team was working on 3D printing which initially focused on providing COVID-19 PPE augmentation in the form of face shields to the local medical community.”

This is where science and home care intersected!

“We began to look for recipients in our local community,” Richard Abbott, a CalTech employee, said. “The general idea was to find people on the front lines of care, and do what we can for them.”

CalTech’s generous donation adds a great supplement to the already existing PPE that we have been providing our caregivers since the beginning of the pandemic. This is an important piece of the COVID-19 protocols our office has implemented for increased safety for our clients and caregivers.

As an essential service to the communities we serve, the training and accommodations our caregivers receive has been heightened amid the recent pandemic, and we appreciate having that extra bit of support to keep our staff and clients safe.

CalTech’s efforts to avoid COVID-19 have been rigorous as well. Abbott explained that "almost all of the campus has been working remotely,” and that it is required to “adhere to strict procedural (social distancing, time on station, minimizing total count of people, etc.) and PPE rules” while on campus.”

“I personally hope that the PPE donation effort helps Right at Home continue to work and help the local community while helping to prevent the spread of COVID-19,” Abbott said.

Right at Home is honored to be considered as recipients of the gift by those over at CalTech – a longstanding and prestigious Pasadena institution that shares a dedication to helping our communities stay safe.

Thank you, CalTech!
