Right at Home caregivers are trained to provide comfort and support to clients who experience a variety of needs, including heart health needs like hypertension and other cardiovascular issues.one or friend, shows our love for them. It’s never a bad time to make sure you or your loved one’s life force is healthy and strong.
Even though Right at Home’s services are non-medical, assistance is still possible in many different ways.
“Our caregivers can make sure our clients can have heart-healthy meals,” Amber Bolanos, Right at Home Pasadena/West Covina’s office manager, said. Additionally, caregivers can “assist with blood pressure readings” as well as “monitor levels of exercise.” Many of Right at Home’s caregivers walk with our clients to keep the blood flowing and the heart thriving.
Amber also mentioned that part of our caregivers’ duties includes medication reminders, and in some cases that means heart medication. “We can be there to make sure they stay on track,” Amber said.
As we mentioned, proper nutrition via heart-healthy meals is key when combined with cardio exercise. According to Harvard Health studies, foods made with extra virgin olive oil, mixed nuts and a colorful assortment of fruits and vegetables are great things to eat for those looking to strengthen their hearts and keep their bodies in good shape.
It’s no surprise that fruits and vegetables are responsible for promoting a healthy heart. The Harvard Health article states that these foods “play an important role in heart health because they contain antioxidants that can help prevent injuries to the arteries.” The article suggests that one should try to eat as colorful of a plate as possible.
"Heart health isn't only dependent on what you eat,” the Harvard Health article states. “It also requires regular physical activity,” and walking or other light exercises are steps toward a healthy heart.
Hypertension affects more than 1 billion people around the world, according to the World Health Organization. It is “a major cause of premature death worldwide,” the website says.
The Center for Disease Control’s website states that “blood pressure normally rises and falls throughout the day, but it can damage your heart and cause health problems if it stays high for a long time.” The description continues on, saying that hypertension is simply “blood pressure that is higher than normal.”
Preventing the hardships brought upon the body by hypertension starts with daily healthy habits. Right at Home’s caregivers focus on daily healthy habit reminders and support, to help support those habits to stay consistent and frequent.
