CAS-Pasadena
The Convalescent Aid Society provides the communities in the Pasadena area free loan of durable medical equipment for personal use to improve the quality of life for those we serve.
Durable medical equipment (DME) is any medical device that can be used at home repeatedly, and that is medically necessary for the patient. Since CAS was founded in 1923, the agency has expanded from serving the residents of Pasadena to addressing the needs of those throughout the greater San Gabriel Valley, Glendale and Burbank. CAS is the only program of its kind and scope in Southern California.
Over 14,000 clients are currently relying on CAS for DME that allows them to stay mobile, return home safely from the hospital and remain as independent as possible. Their mission is to provide the free loan of durable medical equipment for in-home use, in order to improve the quality of life, restore and prolong mobility, promote continued independence and autonomy, and champion sustainable and cost-effective re-use, repair and recycling of such equipment.
A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, CAS is primarily funded through private donations, foundation grants and endowments. Because of this, we are able to provide reusable DME at absolutely no cost to our clients.
