Below are a few of the tips he discussed:
- Caregiving is a calling. You must truly have a heart for providing care.
- Be strong, physically fit in order to complete all of the tasks you will need to do safely and effectively.
- Practice good personal hygiene (no perfume or cologne)
- No smoking before or after your shift
- Wash your hands before, after, and during your shift.
- Wear gloves when dealing with bodily fluids
- Dress for success - loose, comfortable, and professional clothing
- Keep it professional, don’t share too much personal info. Be warm, friendly, and positive
- Be an excellent cleaner and organizer
- Always be on time
- Stick to the care plan.
