Below are a few of the tips he discussed:

  • Caregiving is a calling. You must truly have a heart for providing care.
  • Be strong, physically fit in order to complete all of the tasks you will need to do safely and effectively.
  • Practice good personal hygiene (no perfume or cologne)
  • No smoking before or after your shift
  • Wash your hands before, after, and during your shift.
  • Wear gloves when dealing with bodily fluids
  • Dress for success - loose, comfortable, and professional clothing
  • Keep it professional, don’t share too much personal info. Be warm, friendly, and positive
  • Be an excellent cleaner and organizer
