The Value of In-Home Care
The Value of In-Home Care
About the Report
Caring for America’s Seniors: The Value of Home Care is a report that has newly been released. This report provides detailed information on the increasing role of professional home care in the United States of America, in response to the growing number of maturing Americans who will soon require care. The report highlights home care as a necessary part of the answer to the many difficulties that come with population aging. In addition, this report encompasses facts on the industry, data from trusted sources, and tales directly from caregivers as well as the families that they serve.
The Facts
The fact is America’s population is aging at a swift rate. In the next four years, 56 million Americans will be 65 and older; by 2050, that number will reach 84 million (1). In addition, nearly 70% of Americans who reach the age of 65 will be unable to care for themselves at some point without care and assistance (3). The looming question is, who is going to provide that care? The simple fact is that traditional government health care programs and the current system of institutional care will not be able meet the needs of the millions of aging seniors in America who will require assistance. As a response to the problem, private-pay home care fills a critical gap for seniors between hospital stays, nursing home care, and care provided by family members and loved ones.
