Ethical Dilemmas in Self-Neglect and the Older Person | CEU Webinar
A Complimentary 1.5 HR Continuing Education Webinar for Social Workers and Case Managers:
Ethical Dilemmas in Self-Neglect and the Older Person
Right at Home Smithtown, NY along with Orchard Estate of Woodbury are sponsoring a Continuing Education Webinar on Tuesday, January 26th, 2021. The topic for the webinar is Ethical Dilemmas in Self-Neglect and the Older Person.
Self-neglecting seniors are our isolated "hidden elders". As issues of self-neglect correlate with repeat need for emergency medical services, emergency room visits, hospital readmission penalties and increased use of Medicare and insurance funds, this presentation will review the role of hospital and sub-acute rehabilitation discharge planners and case managers in assessing for environmental and self-neglect “red flags” as part of the discharge planning process. Participants will explore the role of professional ethics in Social Work and Case Management practice, quandaries and interventions. Do people have a ‘right’ to self-neglect?.
