Elizabeth Moffi Caregiver of the Year 2023 Right at Home South Shore
Elizabeth Moffi is our 2023 Right at Home – South Shore 2023 Caregiver of the Year.
“Liz” has been a Right at Home Team member for the past 9 years. She came to Right at Home wanting to find a more meaningful position that also had the flexibility to allow her the time she needed to care for children who have unique challenges and needs. In addition, she continued to care for her grandmother while working and caring for her own children.
Working and bettering herself was and continues to be important to Liz. Over the past 9 years, Liz’s confidence and communication skills have grown dramatically. Initially hesitant about engagement and being able to be effective in her role as a Homemaker, Liz has grown to be outstanding in her role and is constantly evolving. Her passion, commitment and dedication to seniors and co-workers, makes her a standout for this award.
“Liz is a wonderful girl. She cleans my kitchen, bathrooms, cleans/mops/sweeps the floor and does my laundry. I would not be able to stay in my home without her help”.-RAH Client Jean
Throughout her tenure at Right at Home, Liz has taken her different client experiences and developed her own, unique approach and style to suit everyone she provides Homemaking services. She has learned to adapt to different personalities and work with each to achieve success with each. Her task-oriented approach has gained her much praise and recognition with clients asking for her to be permanently assigned to their schedule.
“Liz is great, she knows what to do, and does a fantastic job”.-RAH Client Lorraine
“Liz is always dressed neatly, has on her mask, and wears gloves. She has a positive attitude. She always greets me when she starts her shift and then goes about her tasks. She cleans the bathroom, sweeps and mops the floors, cleans kitchen counters, does the dishes & cleans the kitchen sink, vacuums, polishes the tables in living room, and takes out the trash. Things I cannot do myself and I am lucky to have her to do this.”.-RAH Client Albert
The past 3 years have brought tremendous challenges to both our Caregivers and the Clients they provide care to daily. With an ongoing, worldwide Pandemic and the toll of Covid-19 that has now become an everyday part of life for us all, Liz has never wavered in her commitment to supporting our seniors in the community and is truly an “essential worker”.
Compassion, selflessness, and willingness to go above and beyond have made Liz an invaluable member of Right at Home as well as a beloved Caregiver for those we serve in the community. Liz is also a Brand Ambassador for RAH. She often tells people about the benefits of Right at Home and encourages them
to call if they need assistance. She works well with people at all levels. She reports pertinent and important information that is vital to seniors’ well-being. She is proactive in fulfilling her educational requirements and training.
Being able to identify serious safety concerns before they become a serious matter or even life threatening is something Right at Home takes very seriously as our caregiver do also. Liz is always an advocate for the clients she serves. She has acted on behalf of many clients in need of “deep cleanings” in their home that were far beyond the normal spectrum of regular light cleaning.
In addition, she advocated for a client in a very serious situation. Upon visiting the client, he had no power, and it was days before power was to be restored to his home due to storms. This client was oxygen dependent and only had a limited number of smaller, rescue bottles in the home. Liz immediately contacted a RAH RN to assist. This client was unable to attach these small bottles independently and his oxygen levels were already dropping. Liz contacted 911 immediately to get him transported to the hospital for evaluation and proper treatment. These types of events don’t happen every day, but often enough that our staff step right into action and change & even save lives. Thanks to Liz’s quick response and safety training, a potential catastrophe was avoided.
Liz is a very caring, compassionate & dedicated caregiver who goes above and beyond. Her bubbly personality and infectious positivity touches everyone she meets.
Recently, I identified Liz as a good candidate for a peer mentorship project we have been trying to implement. We hired a younger caregiver with not a lot of social skills or home care experience, but a big heart and willingness to work hard. We paired her with Liz. Liz was counseled by our Clinical Director as to the role she would be undertaking, the goals, expectations and how to introduce this to her client base. Liz did an amazing job. The peer training and ability to step back and assess and observe the new hire perform tasks was a huge success. We set this up for 3 days and paid a little uplift to Liz for doing so. The impact on both was priceless. Liz rose to this challenge even better than we had hoped. She embraced this role and it also gave her more confidence and pride in being recognized as a seasoned and trusted, long term Right at Home employee.
While there are many standout caregivers who meet many of the requirements of the Right at Home – South Shore Caregiver of the Year, Liz truly shines in every area assessed.
Right at Home is proud and honored to award Elizabeth Moffi our Caregiver of the Year 2023 for her outstanding efforts to carry out our RAH Mission of “improving the lives of those we serve”. How we do this is evidenced by the sheer dedication and commitment of standout employees, like Liz, who go above & beyond to deliver quality care, compassion, dedication, and empathy to the clients she serves. Liz positively impacts everyone she touches. We thank Liz for her tireless efforts and wish her continued success in her career development path at Right at Home South Shore.
