Helping Senior Loved Ones who Need Care
Sometimes we do not realize how much help a senior loved one might need, until we are able to be with them over the holidays, and we notice a lot of red flags. You become worried about things you never thought you had to worry about before, like falls in the home, or if mom is eating nutritious meals now that she is living in her home alone. It's a part of life, but it's difficult to watch those we love get older and struggle to do as much for themselves. Heather Cushing from Right at Home of St. Louis, recently appeared on Fox 2 Now news, to discuss aging in place, and how Right at Home can help seniors and adults with disabilities remain in their homes independently.
Heather talked about some of the major signs to look out for, that might mean your loved one needs help, that include:
- Declining personal grooming, hygiene
- Confusion or forgetfulness
- Changes in mental status, or their personality
- Frailty, unsteadiness, falling
- Overall disarray
