Danielle Fuller Provides Extraordinary Care
and Earns Right at Home Mid-Atlantic Region Caregiver of the Year
Congratulations to Danielle Fuller from Right at Home Virginia Beach on her recognition as the 2024 Right at Home Mid-Atlantic Region Caregiver of the Year! She was selected from among thousands of other caregivers for her exemplary commitment to making a difference in the lives of her clients and team members.
Danielle cares for a number of clients across a range of care situations. Though the clients have vastly different needs and personalities, they all share an abundant appreciation and adoration for Danielle.
“I cannot imagine how my life would have been without Danielle by my side,” said Donald Morris, a Right at Home client.
After being released from the hospital, Donald needed specialized home care to help him recover. That’s when he met Danielle, whom he calls his “national treasure.” She helped him through every stage of his recovery, including the transition back home and the preparation of special soft diets after the removal of his feeding tube. They hit it off so well that Danielle continues to provide in-home care for Donald today.
“Danielle embodies the work and loves the job,” said Terra Dehler, Branch Director of Right at Home Virginia Beach. “Danielle makes sure to let clients know it is a privilege to work for them. Clients look forward to her coming every week.”
Another one of Danielle’s clients was grief-stricken after losing her daughter, who was her primary caregiver until she became too ill to provide care. Danielle became the client’s confidant—a true friend to listen to and a shoulder to lean on. Each day, Danielle engages with her client in conversations and memories of her client’s daughter, helping her client through the overwhelming sadness of losing a child.
“After I lost my daughter, I gained Danielle,” said Danielle’s client. “Danielle consoles me like a true friend. Danielle tucks me in at night and tells me she loves me.”
There are countless stories of Danielle going above and beyond for her clients, from big empowerment gestures, like helping them advocate for themselves at doctor visits, to smaller things, like stitching up a frayed travel bag for a client’s walker. Danielle’s attention to detail and understanding of what her clients need at the precise moment have made her an amazing caregiver for them and their families.
“Danielle truly improves the quality of life of those we serve, and we could not be happier to hear that she is the Mid-Atlantic Region Caregiver of the Year,” said Terra.
Danielle’s compassion, selflessness, and willingness to go the extra mile for her clients have made her a valued member of Right at Home and a beloved caregiver for seniors in the Virginia Beach area.
Honoring Our Caregivers
National and Regional Caregivers of the Year are the highest honors awarded by Right at Home. Caregivers are nominated for their exemplary commitment to making a difference in the lives of their clients and teams. The winners are selected by a committee that includes Right at Home representatives and community professionals from outside health care, senior care and caregiving organizations. The award is presented annually during the organization’s conference.
