Virtual Dementia Tour® Helps in Understanding Dementia

April Wintermoyer, owner of Right At Home Wheeling Steubenville, is a Virtual Dementia Tour® (VDT®) facilitator. April and her Right at Home team instruct tours for Caregivers and the Community throughout the year in the Wheeling and Morgantown areas.

The Virtual Dementia Tour provides an interactive lesson in the challenges that face elderly patients who suffer from dementia, Alzheimer's Disease and/or other physical limitations. The Tour enables caregivers to experience for themselves the physical and mental challenges those with dementia face, and use the experience to provide better person-centered care. It is an excellent lesson for family and professional caregivers to understand the loss of dexterity and sharpness of mind that comes with such brain effecting diseases.
