Meet the Owners

Right at Home of Albany, New York is co-owned by Stacey Ellis and James Davis. Stacey worked with James at Aptalis from 2012-2014, where the two became close friends. In 2015, the friends decided to join forces and make their goal of business ownership come to fruition; they introduced Right at Home to the Capital Region of New York.

stacey“I have a deep desire to help others,” said Stacey. As a registered nurse, Stacey saw an immediate impact of her service in the emergency departments at Albany Medical Center and St. Peter’s Hospital.  She also saw the daily struggles of taking care of her grandparents. “I’ve seen the stress it puts on families to support loved ones, and I want to make a difference.” That difference was to help families and individuals empower themselves by remaining in their home.

Stacey graduated from Russell Sage College with a BS in Nursing. She also received a BS in Cytotechnology from the State University of New York (SUNY) Health Science Center and a BS in Biology from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry. She has 20 years of experience in the health care industry working as clinical liaison, home infusion nurse, in sales and marketing positions at the Capital Region of New York.

Stacey and her family are long-time residents of Columbia County of New York. Her parents also live within close proximity – which is another reason why she wanted to “bring in the best and most caring people to deliver great one-on-one care for each individual. ”She personally crafts each care plan for clients of Right at Home of Albany, New York, dedicating her years of experience to serving her community.

james2009 was a turning point for James. “Who is the father of these four beautiful children?” was the question James’ aunt asked over dinner.  James grew up knowing his aunt to be a warm, free-spirit artist.  It was tough to see his close friend and loved one “lost” to early onset Alzheimer’s disease at the age of 55. The personal experience inspired him to start a career to assist individuals, their families, and the community.

James is an Army veteran. For nine years, he served as a medic and infantry officer in the US Army and NY National Guard.  After his Army service, he became a director within two Fortune 50 companies, gaining over 20 years of experience in healthcare, finance and management.

Right at Home of Albany, New York is approved by the Department of Veteran Affairs to provide home care to eligible veterans. For more information, please read Veterans Attendance and Aids.

James graduated from Union College with a BS in Chemistry.  The father of four resides in East Greenbush of New York. He coaches two soccer teams, helps with a swim team and supports his sons’ basketball and baseball teams. He is also active with the YMCA and Hands and Voices, a local deaf/hard of hearing organization as his oldest son is profoundly deaf.

In 2017, James earned the designation of Retirement Income Certified Professional® (RICP®). The RICP® program is a certification in master retirement income planning, including the areas of retirement portfolio management techniques, mitigation of plan risks and Long Term Care Planning.

James was featured in a news story about veterans helping veterans on News10 in 2017.
