Right at Home Offers CARES® Dementia Care Training Program

After researching multiple training options, Right at Home Albuquerque is pleased to offer the CARES Dementia Basics Program. CARES focuses on person-centered care, changes in thinking skills, how those changes affect behavior, and how to interpret that behavior as communication. Successful completion affords eligibility for certification through the Alzheimer’s Association essentiALZ.

Caregivers and Family Members Learn Together How to…

  • Connect with the person
  • Assess behavior
  • Respond appropriately
  • Evaluate what works, and
  • Share with others

CARES was developed with input from the Alzheimer’s Association and is consistent with the latest evidence-based research from the Alzheimer’s Association Campaign for Quality of Residential Care Practice Recommendations. In addition, the office of CMS/Medicare recommends the CARES Dementia program to meet Section 6121 of the Affordable Care Act.

Additional CARES programs include: Dementia Related Behavior, End of Life Dementia Care, Advanced Dementia Care, and Dementia and the Activities of Daily Living.
