Happy New Year! Meet Melanie Lawary at Right at Home Annapolis!

The New Year has come with exciting news. On January 1st, 2023, the Right at Home Anne Arundel County office officially transitioned to a new owner and operator - Melanie Lawary. Let’s get to know about the when, why, what, and how of Melanie.

WHEN did you start your healthcare career?

My journey with Right at Home began in October 2005 when I joined the Right at Home office in Washington, DC. I later joined the Right at Home Southern MD office in 2014, marking the beginning of a journey that brought me to the Annapolis office today. The time I spent contributing to the growth of the Washington, DC, and Waldorf offices has prepared me for joining the Anne Arundel County Team.

WHY Start your own Right at Home?

As a Registered Nurse, I understand the challenges involved in activities of daily living. I am fulfilled by contributing to the mission of Right at Home which is to improve the lives of those we serve. Elderly and disabled adults in the Anne Arundel County community will be glad to know that they have gained a passionate healthcare management expert that believes in the quality of their In-Home care. I was raised in a military setting where I built the foundation of strong dedication and passion for what I have been doing right here at Right at Home. Together we can continue to make great strides toward achieving our personal and organizational goals.

HOW can Right at Home solve the challenges of In-Home care?

When families are faced with a crisis such as a hospitalization or devastating diagnosis, it can be difficult for families to compartmentalize the care needs and the need for ongoing emotional support of one another. Everyone in the family is affected and Right at Home can be the key component to ensuring that a plan is put into place that helps not only provide the right care for the client but brings peace of mind to the family.

Right at Home has a team of Certified Nursing Assistants and non-certified Personal Care Aides that have been carefully screened, receive ongoing training and are supervised by a full-time Registered Nurse on the administrative team. As a Registered Nurse/owner, I’m able to contribute to the solutions to challenges that our administrative team and team of caregivers face on a daily basis. We utilize the latest technology for timekeeping and documentation. Families are able to follow the care being provided in real time by logging into The Family Room.

WHAT does the future hold?

I have a vision for the future of the In-Home Care model of caregiving because I have witnessed the independence it has added to the lives of elderly and disabled adults while in the comfort of their own home. We are excited about the potential that is about to be unlocked in this new chapter. We want to be the go-to agency in this area. I wish to salute the team at Right at Home Annapolis and encourage them to scale higher heights in this bold venture.

A look back: Lewis and Mimi Myers

The Myers, who took over from the previous owner in 2012, have been catering to the Anne Arundel County community together, and the results speak for themselves. The aging residents have enjoyed better service thanks to the additional offices that they opened over the years. They have been meeting the demand for quality care by recruiting the most dedicated caregivers and a professional administrative team. We wish them all the best in their next chapter, and we will continue to provide the quality service residents have come to expect.
