Yota Plamantouras Cares for Clients Like Family
and Earns Right at Home Northeast Region Caregiver of the Year
Congratulations to Panagiota “Yota” Plamantouras from Right at Home Linwood, New Jersey, on her recognition as the 2024 Right at Home Northeast Region Caregiver of the Year! She was selected from thousands of other caregivers for her exemplary commitment to making a difference in the lives of her clients.
“We are family” were the first words Christina Giordano recalls hearing from her grandparents’ caregiver.
Since February 2022, Yota has provided professional in-home care for Rita and John Warren, a senior couple in Linwood. Over the years, Yota has become more than their caregiver; she has become a cherished member of their family.
Yota's unconditional love and genuine outpouring of compassion for the couple are evident as she sings the couple sweet songs of love, embraces them with hugs, and uplifts their spirits through laughter. She does these things while attending to their personal care needs. Yota feeds them, takes them for walks, reminds them to take their medication, helps with bathing and grooming, plays cards, and does other activities where they can all sit together and have conversations. She reminds the entire family how precious the little things are in life.
“My sister and I trust Yota implicitly,” said Gina Giordano, daughter of the Warrens. “Her reliability, compassion, and unwavering commitment to our parents’ happiness and comfort have brought us tremendous peace of mind.”
Yota has gone out of her way to accommodate her clients. She helps them schedule medical appointments, takes them to the doctor, and has even spent nights at their bedside at the family’s request. Her presence helps decrease the family’s anxiety.
“Day in and day out, Yota dedicates herself wholeheartedly to her responsibilities to provide the highest level of care,” said Brian Maroney, owner of Right at Home Linwood. “Her dedication extends far beyond the call of duty, as she willingly invests her time, energy, and heart into making the lives of those in her care as comfortable and enriched as possible.”
In addition to caring for her clients, Yota assists in caring for her mother, who resides with her. Her mom requires an extreme amount of care. After working with her clients, Yota then tends to her mother.
“Yota’s recognition as Northeast Region Caregiver of the Year is a testament to her exceptional character and unwavering dedication,” said Brian. “She is a shining example of what true caregiving means. Her impact extends far beyond the home; it ripples through the lives of those she touches, leaving an indelible mark of love and care.”
Honoring Our Caregivers
National and Regional Caregivers of the Year are the highest honors awarded by Right at Home. Caregivers are nominated for their exemplary commitment to making a difference in the lives of their clients and teams. The winners are selected by a committee that includes Right at Home representatives and community professionals from outside health care, senior care and caregiving organizations. The award is presented annually during the organization’s conference.
