Working Together We Can Strike Out Alzheimer's!
The fortitude embedded in our community to band together for a greater good is unique and special. While they do know how to have a lot of fun doing so, our citizens are very sincere in their support for the aging population. The strong turnout at the Bowling for Alzheimer’s Tournament hosted by Right at Home Belmont on Tuesday August 22nd at the Textile Lanes (thank you Textile Lanes!) is a perfect example of everybody coming together for an excellent cause. 9 teams of 4 signed up to bowl with all proceeds going the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s initiative in Gastonia.

Alzheimer's Impact in North Carolina
According to Alz.org, In 2014 there were 150,000 seniors in NC with Alzheimer’s. By 2020 there will be an estimated 20% increase to 180,000 diagnosed, and by 2025 North Carolina will have seen a sharp 40% increase with 210,000 seniors living Alzheimer’s. Donations obtained by the Alzheimer’s Association help pay for care, support, and research, of the disease.
Helping Local Adults with Alzheimer's and Their Families
Thank you also to the local Alzheimer’s Association Chapter for taking on the enormous task of eliminating Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research: to provide and enhance care and support for all affected: and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health. Their support throughout the Gaston County area is unwavering and very much appreciated. Come encourage others, or participate yourself, in this year’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s, Saturday September 9th 10 AM at the Rotary Centennial Pavilion, 111 N. South St. Gastonia, NC 28052.
