Hand-washing is a simple way to prevent infection and illness. Help keep yourself and your community healthy and safe by practicing good handwashing hygiene this cold and flu season.

Wash hands with soap and warm water.

Lather all areas of the hands for 20 seconds.

Dry hands thoroughly with a paper towel or air dryer.

To keep hands clean, use a paper towel to turn off the water.

You should wash your hands in the following circumstances:

  • After using the restroom
  • Before meals
  • After meals
  • After handling garbage
  • After sneezing or blowing your nose
  • After touching a pet
  • Before, during and after preparing food
