Virtual CE Presentation:

Right at Home Boston Metro West along with Maplewood at Weston and One Wingate Residences at Needham, present:

Optimizing Client Communication Through the Eyes of a Speech-Language Pathologist

In order to develop and maintain successful therapeutic relationships with our clients and families, we need to be effective communicators. We will explore some of the verbal and nonverbal social communication skills and communication styles our clients/families utilize and their impact on getting their wants, needs and opinions met.  We will then look at some of the cognitive-linguistic strategies that can be used to support our clients in establishing rapport, sharing accurate information and avoiding miscommunications.  This presentation will take place on Wednesday, January 13th from 4:15 PM to 5:30 PM.

At the completion of the presentation you will:

  • Understand the cognitive-linguistic and social components of communication.
  • Be able to identify verbal and nonverbal social pragmatic deficits and impact on potential miscommunications in daily interactions.
  • Learn cognitive-linguistic strategies to repair communication breakdowns.
  • Identify at least 3 ways to establish and maintain professional boundaries to facilitate a healthy therapeutic relationship.

This will be the first Zoom Virtual CE Presentation of 2021!!!
