Proudly Serving the Community for 20 Years

Right at Home Boston and North Co-Owners, Rosaleen Doherty and Jay Kenney

“As we chose our life path, we knew we wanted to be close to our local community on the North Shore and have a vocation that really mattered in the bigger scheme of things. For all these years, we have had the honor of serving seniors and their families when they are in crisis. Nothing could be more important. Today, we are now serving all the towns Boston and North and in the Merrimack Valley. Daily, we get to teach our children, Noah and Gabrielle, what it means to help others and be a power of good in our community. Right at Home is the vehicle we utilize to do good for others.” - Rosaleen

Jay Kenney, a Medford native, and Rosaleen Doherty came to the North Shore in 1995 to start their married life. Both were business professionals heavily involved in the “dot-com” world of the nineties and lived to experience the real highs and lows of American business life during that time. In a moment of “what’s next”, Jay and Rosaleen started to reassess what type of life they wanted together and for their young family. The values they wanted to live were close family, close community and service. Right at Home was started on the North Shore in 2002 to live those values and serve the senior community. In 2006, they opened their Right at Home to serve the Merrimack Valley and in 2010 they opened Right at Home of Wakefield. Today, they serve about 500 families a week in all towns Boston and North and employ upwards of 200 people. Rosaleen and Jay reside in Marblehead with their two children. Right at Home serves seniors and their families, while fulfilling the family values set by Jay and Rosaleen over a decade ago.

Right at Home is committed to staying close to the local community. Rosaleen is the past president of North Shore Women in Business and of the Rotary Club of Marblehead Harbor. Right at Home is a member of the Merrimack Valley Chamber of Commerce and long-term active participants in the North Shore and Merrimack Valley Alzheimer’s Partnerships, which do the grassroots work of the Alzheimer’s Association. They are associate members for GCMNE- which is the local chapter for Geriatric Care Managers. Rosaleen is a member Society of Certified Senior Advisors. The Society of Certified Senior Advisors is dedicated to working with elder clients through a code of ethics and a discipline of understanding. Right at Home serves local towns and cities through the MA Home Care Program. In the program, they are long-term home care providers for clients of Elder Services of the Merrimack Valley, North Shore Elder Services, SeniorCare, Greater Lynn Senior Services, Mystic Valley Elder Services, and Chelsea, Revere, Winthrop Elder Services.

Right at Home has been recognized throughout it's decade of service. In 2012 North Shore Elder Services awarded Right at Home at the We Give Thanks Awards for their innovation bringing the Second Wind Dreams Virtual Dementia Tour to almost 1,000 professionals and caregivers throughout the Boston and North area over the past few years. In 2011, they were awarded the Silent Business Partner Award at the Elder Services of the Merrimack Valley Annual Meeting for their service to local elders and this year they were nominated for their Innovations Award for Virtual Dementia Tour. In 2011, they were also honored at the Enterprise Bank Celebration of Excellence for Community Service. They were recognized for bringing the Virtual Dementia tour to the Merrimack Valley. In 2009, Rosaleen was nominated as Boston and North Businesswoman of the Year in the Lydia E. Pinkham Awards and in 2012 she was awarded a Paul Harris Award by the Rotary Club of Marblehead Harbor for her Club leadership and community service.
