Somerville-Cambridge Elder Services Health & Wellness Elder Fair 2018
Somerville-Cambridge Elder Services is the area's leading aging information and services center for the last sixteen years. It is a state designated Aging Service Access Point (ASAP) and a federally designated Area Agency on Aging (AAA). This organization helps seniors and individuals living with disabilities remain independent and safe in their places of residence. They do this by offering a variety of services to support individuals diverse of needs, as well as offer resources and guidance.
On April 11th, 2018, our Right at Home Somerville team was invited to participate in the annual Health and Wellness Elder Fair. A total of 62 local vendors participated in the event. The Elder Fair is a free health and wellness fair aimed at presenting useful services and programs for older adults, caregivers, and people with disabilities.
Lead Scheduler Kelly Latanowich, and Community Relations Coordinator Victoria Guskiewicz, represented Right at Home Somerville. We spoke with local seniors, caregivers, families and adults about various resources and information regarding in-home care service options, gave giveaways out and provided snacks.
Hundreds of seniors, adults and families stopped by our booth to say hello, grab a snack and thanked us for being there to support them. It is a true honor to have the opportunity to meet so many wonderful members of the community, health professionals and advocates for seniors and adults with disabilities.
Fairs like these are so important and vital to our mission, “improving the quality of life for those we serve” (Right at Home Mission Statement). By attending these fairs and getting in front of seniors and the community, we help people live the healthies lives possible by connecting them with information that they need and maybe have not known about before, and by having meaningful conversations about common health issues and concerns.
