Dan and Carmen Bishop, Owners
Dan and Carmen have been married for 46 years and have two adult sons. A native of Michigan, Dan learned about hard work from his dad, a Buick factory worker. He also worked in a Chevrolet factory for a time. Years later Dan moved to California and eventually became a Burger King Franchisee, co-owning multiple stores in the Bay Area. That business experience is a big help when it comes to hiring, training and managing top-notch caregivers. He expects all employees in the Burlingame office to care for your loved ones as they would their own family members.
Carmen is a professional caregiver and her experience was part of what inspired the Bishops to open their own home care company. They sold their Burger King business and were looking for a new, meaningful opportunity when they discovered Right at Home.
The Bishops know what it’s like to worry about family members and friends as they age. Carmen’s parents are in their 90’s and, fortunately, they are very independent. As Right at Home owners, the Bishops want to help others live independently as long as possible.
In their spare time Dan and Carmen enjoy snow skiing, travel and water sports. As a Midwesterner, Dan also grew up participating in outdoor sports such as hunting and fishing.
Carmen is proud to have completed three, 3-day, 60-mile Avon breast cancer walks. Dan lost his mother to breast cancer and Carmen has a very dear friend who is a breast cancer survivor. It’s a cause that is close to their hearts. They are also delighted to participate in Moving Day, a Right at Home sponsored fundraiser with the National Parkinson Foundation.
