Right at Home Cedar Rapids Delivers Dementia Friendly Training at 3rd Annual Dementia Forum
The DeWolf Innovation Center for Aging and Dementia held its 3rd annual Dementia Forum on November 13, 2024, in Marion, IA. The theme of this year’s forum was Life Changing Designs and featured several guest speakers both virtually and in-person to discuss loneliness and ideas on how to combat it, veteran caregiver support, using creative writing to promote happiness and becoming dementia friends. I was fortunate to be asked to provide Dementia Friend training to an audience of 100+ people! I have presented this information several times, but this was the biggest group.
The forum is a day of thought-provoking presentations, updates on activities at the Family Caregivers Center of Mercy, and spotlighting families affected by dementia and how they have found purpose and support at the Innovation Center.
One presenter was the author of the book, Project UnLonely, which delves into how our society became so lonely, the detrimental health effects of being chronically lonely, and ideas of how to improve these statistics through the Arts. Lots of great information and inspiration during the forum! Right at Home is a great resource for families experiencing dementia and we highly recommend the Family Caregivers Center and the Innovation Center for more resources and assistance.
