Humphries Joins News Now: SIgns of Low Vision
Low vision is a condition that occurs when prescription glasses, contact lenses, medication, and surgery cannot correct one’s vision. The most common forms are macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, cataracts, and glaucoma. Symptoms can vary widely and some signs to be aware of include: inability to differentiate colors, poor eyesight in clearly lit areas, trouble negotiating stairs and walking on uneven surfaces. Regular eye exams are key to the prevention and early detection of low vision as well as being aware of possible genetic markers, following a healthy diet, not smoking, and controlling diabetes.
