Our Mission
Put simply, our mission is to improve the quality of life for those we serve. Of course, we recognize that everyone’s idea of “quality of life” is different, which is why it’s so important to us to make you an active part of your own care plan. We want you to be in the driver’s seat regardless of any limitations or challenges you’re facing.
Most of all, we believe aging isn’t just about staying healthy, safe and independent. It’s also about living well.
Kim and Jeff Guinn, Owners
Right at Home Columbia
Kim and Jeff have lived in Columbia for more than 38 years and both have been active in the community for all those years. Kim grew up in Lexington, MO with older parents (Dad 52 and Mom 43) when she was born, she feels right at home with seniors! She was her mother's primary caregiver for nearly 20 years until she passed away at 94 years old. Kim was a drum major in the high school and was an accomplished flute player in high school placing in the top 10 in the state. Kim a University of Missouri graduate began her career in the computer field working for Mizzou Campus Computing for many years until she began her business career by starting a retail sign franchise called Signs Now (now called Image 360), after successfully selling the business, she took some time off and decided to get into the men's haircut franchise called Sport Clips and she opened the 42nd store in the US, now there are nearly 2000 opened stores. The business was very successful as she added 4 locations and operated for nearly 17 years. The business was sold 5 years ago to a buyer that owned 19 Sport Clips stores in the Kansas City area. Every business that Kim has sold is still successful today even after 23years! Kim spent some time deciding what business she might like and Jeff mentioned he was working with a client in the senior care franchise business and after thinking about it, praying about over a year she decided that she would love to serve seniors and support them like she did for her family.
Jeff grew up in Vandalia, MO, and graduated from Van-Far High School, attended University of Central Missouri, and came to Columbia in 1986 after growing up in the family lumber business. He has owned and successfully operated many businesses and he has been a business broker/advisor for over 33 years in the Columbia area. Jeff has spoken at Columbia College/Mizzou regarding business many times and is active in many civic activities such as Past President of the Lions Club, Past Executive Board Member of the Columbia Chamber of Commerce. He has co-chaired many fundraisers for Tolton Catholic High School and is a past Tolton Advisory Board member and is past President of the Parish Council of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Kim and Jeff are both active parishioners of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
Jeff is a lifelong Mizzou/Cardinals/Blues fan and has been active in coaching youth baseball, basketball, and softball. Jeff loves to serve, coach others and looks forward to assisting Kim in the operation of Right at Home.
Kim and Jeff have three wonderful children, John, the oldest graduated from Missouri State University and is working in St. Louis, Luke is now a senior at Missouri State studying kinesiology, Kate is a senior at Tolton HighSchool and is going to college next year on a softball scholarship, John and Luke are both graduates of Tolton.
Our Philanthropy
Globally, an estimated 70 million people with disabilities have no access to a wheelchair. Those who cannot walk must crawl or be carried to their destination. In collaboration with a network of like-minded partners, Free Wheelchair Mission has distributed more than 1 million wheelchairs to people with disabilities in 93 developing countries around the world, providing renewed dignity, independence and hope through the gift of mobility, at no cost to the recipient.
As an organization, Right at Home's work with Free Wheelchair Mission began in 2016 as the company looked for a partner that would help us further our mission of improving lives worldwide. To date, the Right at Home team's efforts have raised more than $400,000 that has funded over 5,000 wheelchairs, which were distributed through life-changing Vision Trips to Vietnam, Ecuador and Costa Rica.
