Heaven Can Wait 2020: Virtual Race for Frontline Heroes

Right at Home is a proud supporter of the St. Charles Foundation's "Heaven Can Wait 2020." The Foundation is changing its annual 5K to a virtual event this year to raise funds for St. Charles Health System’s COVID-19 efforts. The event will be held from June 7-14. For the past 20 years, the Heaven Can Wait event has raised money for Sara’s Project, providing breast cancer education and support for people in Central and Eastern Oregon. Those services will continue. Fighting COVID-19 impacts our entire community and this virtual event allows the foundation the flexibility to raise much-needed funds to support St. Charles’ frontline caregivers.

Veterans Day

This Veteran's Day the RAH admin team honored one of our clients, George, who fought in WWII. We brought lunch to him and his caregiver, Gunnar. George entertained us with interesting stories from his past and showed us the beautiful paintings done by his talented wife. George still hits the gym 3 days a week and is 90 years young!! Thank you to George and all the veterans out there!

Habitat for Humanity Volunteering

Right at Home central Oregon’s Administrative Team started their “at least monthly” volunteering for Habitat for Humanity in Bend. We were working alongside a single mom with 2, 17 year old high school kids; On the other side of the duplex is a single mom with a toddler.

Habitat for Humanity Volunteering

We had so much fun while we hung insulation on the outside of the property for extra insulation.although our measuring skills leaved a little to be desired, (okay, a lot) we learned as we went and by the end of the day had a great system in place. What a rewarding experience. Can’t wait to help out again!

Tri-Counties Senior Care Network Luncheon in Redmond

Right at Home Central Oregon recently hosted the quarterly Tri-counties Senior Care Network Luncheon at the Redmond Chamber of Commerce. There were 25 attendees and the presenter was Carol-Ann Nelson, PT, Founder and Executive Director of Destination Rehab. Everyone who attended learned some great exercises to do for seniors and office workers to help keep our posture up to par.

We also learned that getting up and moving around throughout the day (doing housework, walking around the block every hour, etc.) provides more of an overall benefit to our long term health than being sedentary all day and then doing 30 minutes of intense exercise. Read Article
