Benefits of Home Care for Aging Adults

There are many ways that home care can benefit an aging population including the primary benefit of being able to remain in one’s own home. The following is based on a real-life story that occurred and the names have been changed in order to maintain privacy.

Our client who we will call Mr. A. engaged us to provide in home care and to help with his daily exercise regimen. Because he was not able to complete his exercises on his own his family reached out to us in order to help him with his exercise program. When our aide who we will call Tameka first went to Mr. A’s home and asked how he was doing with his exercises Mr. A told her, “these exercises look too hard for me to do.”

So Tameka took the time to create an easy to follow set of instructions for each exercise. She then took the instructions and put them in a binder. Mr. A started to do his exercises with help from Tameka and was able to progress to the point of doing his exercises on a regular basis. Movement and exercise are important for everyone regardless of age, but are especially beneficial for seniors aging in the home. The family expressed their appreciation for Tameka and her ability to get their father moving again.
