Parkinson's Training Program


Right at Home is the only home care company in Cleveland and Chagrin Falls, Ohio that is a national sponsor of the National Parkinson Foundation (NPF), but that's just the start of our commitment to serving NPF and the individuals and families living with the disease in Cleveland and Chagrin Falls, Ohio. We also partner locally with NPF of Central and Southeast Ohio to promote the mission of the National Parkinson Foundation. This includes co-sponsoring community support sessions, such as a series this spring and summer at the Evans Center in Grove City on the impact of staying active and following a healthy lifestyle on managing the effects of Parkinson's and teaming with NPF leadership to promote events such as the NPF Spring Symposium and Moving Day.

Most importantly, at Right at Home of Cleveland and Chagrin Falls Area - our caregivers and staff receive extensive training around Parkinson's disease, allowing us to provide a comprehensive approach to understanding the goals and specific needs of persons with Parkinson's Disease and their Care Partners and ensuring that our clients receive the best possible care at an affordable price.

Our care providers are trained to assist with:

  • Preserving independence and dignity
  • Timely medication reminders
  • Preparation of appropriate meals to coincide with medication schedules, and assistance with mealtimes
  • Assistance with grooming and personal hygiene
  • Assistance with daily tasks due to the effects of tremors and bradykinesia
  • Encouraging seated chair exercises, stretching, walking and good posture
  • Assist with recommended muscle strengthening activities
  • Providing transportation to aerobic activities and support groups in the community
  • Encourage speaking loudly and participating in speech exercises
  • Provide opportunities for socialization
