Right at Home Columbia Awarded Accreditation from The Joint Commission

Right at Home- Columbia has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Home Care Accreditation by demonstrating continuous compliance with its performance standards. The Gold Seal is a symbol of quality that reflects a health care organization’s commitment to providing safe and quality patient care.

Right at Home- Columbia, who has been accredited since 2016, underwent a rigorous, unannounced onsite review on 8/02/2022. During the visit, a team of Joint Commission reviewers evaluated compliance with Home Care standards spanning several areas. These included client standards compliance, caregiver training and compliance, operations consistency, emergency management, environment of care, infection prevention and control. Other areas included leadership, medication management, continuous improvement parameter goals and achievements, and rights and responsibilities of the individual.

The Joint Commission’s standards are developed in consultation with health care experts and providers, measurement experts and patients. They are informed by scientific literature and expert consensus to help health care organizations measure, assess and improve performance. The surveyors also conducted onsite observations and interviews.

“As a private accreditor, The Joint Commission surveys health care organizations to protect the public by identifying deficiencies in care and working with those organizations to correct them as quickly and sustainably as possible,” says Mark Pelletier, RN, MS, chief operating officer, Accreditation and Certification Operations, and chief nursing executive, The Joint Commission. “We commend Right at Home- Columbia for its continuous quality improvement efforts in patient safety and quality of care.”

“We would like to congratulate our entire team for their dedication and commitment in providing the highest level of care to our clients. Being an accredited agency from the Joint Commission is no easy task, since less than 1 % of Home Care agencies have achieved accreditation nationwide. The entire staff, which includes Managers, schedulers, human resource coordinators, customer service personnel and caregivers worked diligently for many months to accomplish an outstanding audit result”, says Charles Brown, Owner of Right at Home- Columbia.
