Jamie Robinson
Owner of Right at Home Eastern Long Island
Jamie Robinson’s background in medical and pharmaceutical sales led him to venture into in-home care with Right at Home.
Growing up in Hauppauge, New York, Jamie obtained his bachelor’s degree in sports medicine and began his professional life by doing business-to-business sales for ADP. After three years, Jamie was promoted within the company and began dabbling in a variety of areas, including HR, which taught him multiple sets of skills to succeed in the corporate world. Eventually, Jamie chose to transition companies and began working for Office Depot.
After about a year with Office Depot, Jamie realized he wanted to establish a career in the industry he was passionate about: health. Thanks to a family friend working with Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, Jamie was offered a position selling cardiovascular equipment to cardiologists. After three years of hard work, Jamie noticed changes in the industry and chose to transition companies again. He joined Angiotech, and during the next nine years, sold invasive medical equipment to hospitals and surgery centers.
With more than 10 years in medical and pharmaceutical sales, Jamie realized he wanted to go into business for himself. Seeking advice from his father-in-law, whose background was in business ownership, Jamie was introduced to the world of franchising. Compiling research on in-home care, Jamie felt this was the opportunity he had been looking for. Jamie began his career with Right at Home by expanding the brand throughout New York state.
What personal experience do you have in your own family with caring for a senior?
"I have been fortunate enough to have everyone healthy in my family. But my mother has been a caregiver for three years for a family member, and I have seen how vital it is for in-home care on both sides of things. Before my father passed in 2001, he was admitted into hospice; they really helped us during that time. My wife, Jen, is a Physician’s Assistant, and both of her parents live in Florida; with us not living there, the amount of support and help they receive really reduces our stress level. Jen’s grandparents who are in their 90s, need care from a certified nursing assistant, opening her eyes to understanding the tremendous need to help her family get care to age gracefully at home. Her background as a P.A.. has also validated the need and significance of serving the aging needs of the senior’s in our community." - Jamie Robinson, Owner
