Partnership with Hearing Doctors of New Jersey Interview

Right at Home’s mission is to improve the quality of life for those we serve. With that in mind, Right at Home of Essex County has partnered with Hearing Doctors of New Jersey. We interviewed Dr. Rhee Rosenman – Nesson, Doctor of Audiology and Founder of Hearing Doctors of New Jersey.

Q: Right at Home’s mission is to improve the quality of life for those we serve. How does your mission as an audiologist complement ours?

A: At Hearing Doctors of New Jersey, we're passionate about helping people never say "what" again. Our Doctors of Audiology follow our proprietary H.E.A.R. MethodTM to create a personalized treatment plan so you can reconnect with your family and friends through better hearing.

Q: How does compromised hearing affect the quality of life of the elderly? What are the dangers of compromised hearing?

A: Untreated hearing loss is linked to a three-fold risk of falling, according to a 2012 Johns Hopkins study. In addition, untreated hearing loss significantly affects the quality of everyday life of the elderly. Hearing loss not only affects one's ability to hear others, it also causes loneliness, isolation, dependence, and frustration. More notably, studies have shown that untreated hearing loss is also a contributing factor to cognitive issues like dementia and Alzheimer’s.

When people lose their hearing, they don't often realize what they've lost and often blame others by saying that they "mumble" or just swallow their words. When in fact, it's their hearing that is the issue. At Hearing Doctors of New Jersey, our proprietary H.E.A.R MethodTM starts with a comprehensive hearing evaluation to determine a customized treatment plan.

Q: What resources can you offer to assist those who may have difficulty hearing?

A: If a hearing screening indicates that hearing loss exists, Hearing Doctors of New Jersey, suggests their proprietary H.E.A.R MethodTM which begins with a comprehensive hearing evaluation to determine a customized treatment plan. Hearing Doctors’ approach to improving hearing is anything but cookie-cutter. While hearing aids are often the most helpful treatment for those who have difficulty hearing, they are not the only solution. Some additional tools that help with hearing include:

  • Amplified phones
  • Amplified TV headsets
  • Personal amplified listening devices like the William Sound Pocketalker. An easy solution for hearing better at the doctor's office.

Q: Can you accommodate patients/clients with limited mobility? Home visits? Facility appointments? Telemedicine?

A: At Hearing Doctors of New Jersey we are fully handicap-accessible and adhere to strict COVID-19 cleaning protocols to prevent the spread of the virus. While coming to our Livingston, NJ office allows us to deliver the most comprehensive hearing care services, we also offer home visits within 5 miles of our office, nursing home appointments and telehealth appointments.

Q: The cost of care is always a concern. Are your services covered by insurance?

A: At Hearing Doctors of New Jersey, we and our Doctors of Audiology are out-of-network providers with insurance plans. While each insurance plan is different, some do cover the cost (or partial cost) of hearing aids and hearing resources. Our staff understands how hearing resources can greatly improve your quality of life after hearing loss, and we want to help each of our patients take the next step in their hearing health. We will work with you to provide the necessary documentation so that you can utilize your out-of-network benefits.
