Read Across America Day

Read Across America Day

read across america logoOn Monday, March 2nd, Right at Home of Essex County participated in Read Across America Day at Camden Street School in Newark, New Jersey.  Melodie, co-owner of Right at Home, had the opportunity to read a book about friendship to a group of pre-school children.  The National Education Association brings Read Across America year-round to help motivate kids to read.  Their goal is to bring the joys of reading to students of all ages, and make all children feel valued and welcome. The titles and resources featured by NEA’s Read Across America include books that students can see themselves reflected in, as well as books that allow readers to see a world or a character that might be different than them.

Melodie had such a wonderful time participating in this celebration of diverse readers.  "You're never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read with a child."

We love participating in community events of all kinds.  While we specialize in improving the quality of life for those we serve in the senior community, we are proud members of the Essex County community, and try to support incredible events and causes whenever possible.  We hope to participate in Read Across America Day again in the future!
