Hello all,
As we enter November—a time for reflection and gratitude—we look back on an incredible year, including the celebration of our 20th anniversary in business. We are deeply thankful for the opportunity to share this milestone with our family, friends, clients, caregivers, and the entire Essex County community. It has been a truly memorable experience.
We are very excited to welcome our new nurse, Michele C. and Christine O., our Life Enrichment Coordinator, to the Right at Home of Essex County team. We are looking forward to working alongside them.
Thank you for helping to support us last month in our efforts to raise awareness for Breast Cancer. We raised $195 alongside our partners, CareOne Livingston, Brookdale West Orange, Arden Courts West Orange, Brandywine Livingston, and Brighton Gardens West Orange.
As the holiday season approaches, we want to express our heartfelt thanks for all the support we've received from the community. We wish you and your loved ones a wonderful season filled with joy and cherished memories.
Take care,
Maeghan and Melodie

Welcome to the Right at Home of Essex County team, Michele C. and Christine O.! We're excited to work with you both.
Michele pursued a career in nursing because she felt it was important to serve the community by positively impacting people’s lives every day and supporting patients and their families during difficult & challenging times as well as during the happiest times in their life (Labor & Delivery). She feels that nursing is a lifelong learning journey and experience.
Christine started her career as a chef and caterer which included setting up food pantries and feeding programs for the homeless. With a nurturing spirit, she was drawn to companion care and enriching the lives of seniors as a chaplain and served in a senior living community. Christine finds that interacting with and providing for seniors and those with dementia is both challenging and deeply satisfying.
Help us welcome our newest members to the Right at Home of Essex County team by sending a comment or a reaction.

A family business is one in which multiple family members are involved in working together. In the early days especially, even though Moses ran the business, all family members pitched in. Everyone helped in their unique way.
Whether Matt was attending networking events and doing presentations with Moses, Melodie was driving a caregiver to a last-minute assignment, or Maeghan was stepping in to answer phones in the office, each person was instrumental in playing a role in the business.
This was key in establishing relationships throughout the Essex County community under Moses’ leadership and these experiences set the foundation for the family culture that exists today at Right at Home of Essex County.
Stay tuned as we share more stories from the Right at Home of Essex County family from the past 20 years.Check out our 20 Years of Story series on ourFacebookandLinkedInpages.

Right at Home of Essex County created a custom card deck to add variety, fun, and engagement to the daily lives of our clients and caregivers.
Some fun ways to use the deck are:
-
Each person draws a card randomly from the deck and the individuals take turns answering the questions and complete the activities as a group
-
Sort the deck into categories and play the trivia questions to compete for a decided prize
-
Use the deck question cards to spark conversation and create connection
-
Play with the activity cards to promote movement and make completing household tasks more enjoyable by turning on some music and having some fun
If you would like to learn more and receive your own deck, please connect with us.

November Inservice:Maintaining Your
Clients’ Dignity
|
|
This month we are offering training to provide our caregivers with simple guidelines to maintain their clients' dignity. We strive to give our clients the best possible care and this comes with recognizing each person individually with compassion and respect.
The training will explain the best approach to maintaining the dignity of all clients across all cultures, ethnicities, and circumstances, which helps caregivers exhibit personal dignity in all professional and personal interactions with others.
This teaches caregivers to describe dignity as a basic right all people have as human beings. It explains how to treat people with dignity using the A, B, C, and D of dignity.

The U.S. House of Representatives Passed the Sen. Elizabeth Dole 21st Century Veterans Healthcare and Benefits Improvement Act!
|
|
In recent news, the Senator Elizabeth Dole 21st Century Veterans Healthcare and Benefits Improvement Act passed the U.S. House of Representatives with overwhelming bipartisan support.
This comes after more than a year of relentless advocacy efforts by thousands of Home Care Association of America (HCAOA) members across the country who raised their voices to ensure veterans can access the home care they need and deserve. Together, we’ve ensured our lawmakers understand the urgency of strengthening services and support for veterans and their families.
-
More than 3,000 HCAOA members sent messages to Capitol Hill urging them to support the Elizabeth Dole Home Care Act, which allows the VA to spend the same amount on home care as nursing home care for veterans who receive nursing level care in their homes.
-
Hundreds of advocates met with their members of Congress during our 2024 Home Care Advocacy Day, urging them to co-sponsor and support this legislation.
-
HCAOA met with the VA to emphasize the need to lift a cap that limited the amount of home care that the VA would pay for.
-
HCAOA joined an active coalition of organizations to cultivate support for this legislation and to ensure that veterans’ access to home care remained a priority.
Now, our attention turns to the Senate, who must pass this bill and send it to the President’s desk before the end of the year for the bill to become law.
Please continue to make your voice heard by urging both your Senators to support the Elizabeth Dole 21st Century Healthcare and Benefits Improvement Act, and thank your House Representative for voting yes!
